Overview
A low vision assessment (LVA) is a comprehensive evaluation designed for individuals whose vision cannot be fully corrected by regular spectacles, medical treatment, or surgery. Unlike a standard eye examination, an LVA focuses on understanding how reduced vision affects a person's daily life—including reading, watching television, cooking, socialising, mobility, and hobbies—and provides tailored solutions to help maximise remaining vision.
The assessment is suitable for anyone experiencing vision loss due to an eye condition, regardless of whether they are registered as sight impaired. It is available for adults and children aged 4 and above. The goal is not to cure the underlying eye condition but to equip patients with practical tools, devices, and strategies to maintain independence and quality of life
